Here
are the best details I can find so far about going to the site.
From
Salvador you take a bus to Seabra. The bus leaves from Rodoviario
at 23:30 or 07:00, but you need to book in advance. The bus takes
about 8 hours, and it passes through Lençois if you want
to break your trip in a really beautiful place. Lençois to
Seabra is about an hour trip, and there is minibus leaving at 07:00,
and also
buses at other times.
From
Seabra take a bus or mini to Piatã. It is about 100km. Buses
go at 03:00 (yes) and 15:30 from the bus station, and there are
minibuses at 11:00 amd 13:00 from the center of town (Praça).
In
Piatã you look for Aninha´s house in Plaça Do
Juís. It seems like everybody knows her. If she´s not
at home, read the instructions on the door and walk for about two
hours. Not advisable at night, though doable (I did it, and it took
almost four hours).
There's
also a road that goes there, and someone may take you there for
some amount of money. It
may be a bit chilly at night, so bring a pullover.
Very
important: change money in Salvador. There is no money change
in Seabre, and in Piatã and Lençois the rates are
awful. There´s an ATM in Lençois for VISA only, and
it usually doesn't work. Internet in Lençois is very expensive,
but very cheap in Seabra.
That´s
about it. Love and Light, Moddy.

Prices
are for tickets from Sao Paulo to Salvador -
(you can buy tickets from the websites)
www.tam.com.br
www.varig.com.br
A one way ticket is around US$ 150 if you reserve/buy beforehand.
Both of the above companies offer very good service (food etc),
frequent direct flights and are usually not very cheap. This company
seems to have a comercial flight to Lençois, near the
gathering, but only on Saturdays and you must be willing to spend
$$$$
www.vasp.com.br
A one way ticket is around US$ 90 if you reserve/buy beforehand
www.voegol.com.br
Both of the above companies offer not so good service (no food),
not so frequent flights (lot´s of stop-overs) and usually
cheaper flights one way ticket is around US$ 80 if you reserve/buy
beforehand (pay attention to flight time before you buy a ticket
in these
companies or you may get stuck in a plane for 5-6 hours on a flight
that should only take 90 minutes)
CHARTER
FLIGHTS
Even cheaper for the brave ones - you must be 100% sure that you
won't
change your mind about departure dates... Theses companies have
no websites that I know of...
